Field of Intervals : A grating field where unit, surface, and object converge into one porous system

Reflection of the Future is sited within a construction site, a space of becoming where the city’s next layer is already being negotiated. It is here that the exhibition finds its material and its method.

Grating begins as a unit, a repetitive, modular element defined by grid geometry and structural logic, deployed not as a component within a larger assembly, but as the singular generative material from which the entire spatial system emerges. The grid, already the language of the construction site, already the armature of the city, is re-inhabited. What was infrastructural becomes curatorial.

The grating operates across three registers simultaneously: as unit, it remains a discrete repeatable object; as surface, it extends to form ceiling and base; as object, it thickens locally to configure chair and table, furniture emerging not as addition but as intensification of the same field.

This collapse of categories into a single material system refuses the conventional hierarchy of exhibition design. Ceiling, wall, base, chair, and table are not assembled together. They are differentiated from within the same continuous field, mirroring the exhibition’s central inquiry: how does the inherited logic of a city become the generative foundation for what comes next?

The result is a space organized not by enclosure but by interval, open, relational, and contingent, a field that invites occupation without prescribing it.
