Residence C is an interior renovation of a compact Brooklyn residence, reimagined to support contemporary living through clarity, adaptability, and spatial continuity.
The project reorganizes the existing layout to prioritize a single, continuous living volume that accommodates daily life, work, and gathering. Rather than dividing the interior into discrete rooms, the renovation introduces a sequence of loosely defined zones, living, dining, kitchen, and workspace, arranged along a clear circulation spine. This approach allows the space to flex between focused use and social occupation while maintaining a strong sense of openness.
Custom millwork plays a central role in shaping the interior. Storage, seating, and work surfaces are integrated into continuous built-in elements that define program without relying on full-height partitions. Perforated shelving panels provide moments of separation where needed, allowing spaces to be closed, filtered, or fully opened depending on use.
Material choices emphasize warmth and restraint. Light wood surfaces, muted textiles, and soft neutral finishes create a calm backdrop that reflects natural light deep into the residence. Subtle variations in texture and tone distinguish functional zones while preserving a cohesive interior language. Carefully integrated lighting, both architectural and decorative, reinforces this layering and supports different modes of living throughout the day.
The renovation balances precision with comfort, creating an interior that is efficient yet relaxed, structured yet adaptable. Through careful spatial planning and integrated design, Residence C transforms an enclosed plan into a flexible, light-filled home suited to both everyday routines and evolving needs.
